Fantasy is your imagination based on mystery, the world you create. There needs a complete building of the value of the world, a well-designed map, and a clear hierarchical system. After building up a solid foundation, we can start to build our characters and fill in the plots.
A clear hierarchical system is extremely important in fantasy. Overcoming the gap between different worlds and hierarchies is the key to creating the catching point and impressing the readers.
The hierarchical system can be very diverse. It is the foundation of the whole story, so it must be solid. Writers can feel free to build up their own system as long as it is easy to remember, easy to understand, and easy to work well. It should not be so complicated that the reader will get tired of reading it. If you are not ready to build your own, it is always safe to follow the system of some classic fantasies.
The next step is to finishing up building all the characters starting from the main characters. The setting of main characters can be roughly divided into three categories:
a. Starting from a loser: the main character is usually an abandoned child of the family, or a loser of the disciples. Their talent is always much worse then others. But then they will acquire the “golden key”, and their talent will be awakened, thus reaching the top in the end.
b. The King is back: the main character is born to be a power. After betrayal, they will reborn and fight their own way up again based on their experience of the previous live.
c. System-based: the main character is a citizen from the modern world. They accidentally dropped into the fantasy world and live there as the same person with the same name. They are connected with the world’s system and fight all the way up to the top in the end…
The creation of fantasy is not limited to science, time and space. It fully relies on the imagination of the authors. Therefore, the content can be very imaginative, rich and diverse.
