GoodNovel present you an exclusive interview with Jessica Hall. Read on to discover her writing experience.

1. Can you tell us about your writing career’s backstory? How and when did it all start, your journey with the wolves on paper?

I started writing when I wrote my first werewolf book Hybrid Aria. I started on Wattpad and an editor from Goodnovel reached out to me. When I started writing it was to see if I could write a book and to write something I wanted to read. I honestly didn’t think anyone would be interested in my books, but am grateful I decided to sign with Goodnovel, they have opened a lot of doors me as an author.

2. Are you a planner or are you a panster? Do you plan your stories before writing, or do you just let the plot flow?

I like to say my characters write themselves into the story and the plot just develops. Some of my books are thought out or I have a general direction on where I want them to go, but for the most part I just write and see where it takes me. Hybrid Aria was written from one scene I had in my head, I wrote the entire book around that one scene, and it turned into a series from there.

3. Please tell us a bit about the books have you published with GN.

My Hybrid Aria series which is werewolf erotica and based on the storylines of Aria who is the Queen of Alphas, then it follows her children and their fights against hunters and other supernaturals but also the dramas and romance of their mates and the conflicts they face.

Chosen by The Dragon King’s is my dragon and Fae reverse harem book, it is dark romance, very dark and the characters you love to hate. It is about Dragons ruling the world and my MFC is the last Fae alive in a world that condemns Fae creatures, it is also about a prophecy and curse set on the Dragons by the Fae and the conflict she faces when they learn what she is not only Fae but their mate.

Fated to Alpha series is a series in one book, it is about a teenage girl who is shunned by her pack along with her family and taken in by another Alpha, as the story progresses, she learns she is mates to the Alpha but having no wolf creates problems as she tries to hide it from her new Alpha/ Mate. As the bond starts to grow and tensions rise, they realize there is more at stake and not only does she have to hide what she truly is, she also has to face the betrayals of her family and the curse bestowed upon them.

Sinful Mates series is a werewolf/vampire reverse harem book series. It is dark and steamy, and the ML are dominant and possessive. It follows Imogen my MFC as she is forced into the world of supernatural’s but there is a catch, she is human and no humans allowed, so she must fight against her mates who refuse to give her up, while she refuses to give up her humanity.

4. Which one is your most favorite book written by you and why?

Definitely Chosen By The Dragon Kings, because it is so different to my werewolf books and I love writing dark romance, the darker the better. The characters are flawed and cruel with nearly no redeeming qualities, yet it works as they learn to tolerate and grow together for the greater good.

5. What was the most fun part of writing Fated To The Alpha?

I liked that it was different to most werewolf books, my main character Katya didn’t come from an abusive home but had loving parents. Her mate isn’t abusive or cruel like most werewolf books. I also love the relationships between all the characters in the book. I enjoyed adding the Moon Goddess into the storyline, you don’t see many with the Moon Goddess directly connected to a book but she is a big part of it.

6. Can you give us some words about what’s your secret of achieving success within a short period of time with your writing? What was in your works that attracted your readers so much?

Write what you want to read yourself would be the main one. Also updating regularly and character growth, if there is none the story goes nowhere. I like to make my characters relatable in some way to make them more real. Also, my books are rather long around 200k-300k words so have high word counts which I think helps, also don’t write for the MAB. I notice a lot of new authors write trying to hit a word count and the stories come off rushed. I don’t even look at monthly word counts, I write for the story not the MAB, preferring good information for each chapter instead of filler chapters that bore readers and are unnecessary for the plot, so don’t force yourself to write. Let it come to you. Don’t sacrifice your work by doing so.
